Samuel Pattillo, 36, became combative with police after they were called to a double stabbing on Jackson Pond Road just after 6 p.m., the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office said.
When police arrived at the scene, they received multiple more calls about a man in "obvious distress" walking along Country Club Road, not far from the stabbings, the prosecutor said. Officers approached the man, later identified as Pattillo, and he became combative.
Officers used a TASER and pepper spray on him and put him in handcuffs, the DA said. He started to struggle and show signs of distress, authorities said, and police performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived.
They rushed Pattillo to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham, where he died.
The two stabbing victims were relatives of Pattillo. Paramedics took them to Boston hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. They remained under doctors' care Thursday morning.
Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said Pattillo's body would be autopsied to determine the cause of death.
